It really delivers an authentic Japanese taste — honestly, it feels just like eating in Japan. I ordered the 1.5x Kaisendon, and it was much bigger than I expected. All of the sashimi was fresh and generously portioned. If you’re not too hungry, I’d recommend going for the regular size instead, as the larger one is quite filling. I also noticed they wrapped the little soy sauce box with cling film to prevent spills — such a thoughtful detail. Another nice touch is their loyalty card: collect 9 stamps and you’ll get 10% off, which makes it even more tempting to come back.

This is a great authentic sushi place made with very fresh fish at honest price point. Kaisen don, Crazy Salmon roll and Rainbow roll were all really good, and could feed two not so hungry people. I will be back!

My partner and I recently visited Hase-Ya and left feeling genuinely impressed. It’s one of those hidden gems that truly lives up to its reputation. During our visit, we tried a few dishes: the nigiri set, the zeitaku don, and a negitoro temaki hand roll. While the fish was of good quality, what stood out most was the rice. Each grain was perfectly cooked—dente yet sticky—with a delicate balance of vinegar, subtle sweetness, and rich umami. It reminded us that great sushi is as much about the rice as the fish. A quick note for travelers: Hase-Ya operates as a takeaway spot, not a sit-down restaurant. Luckily, Lammas Park is just a five-minute walk away and makes a lovely spot for a picnic—weather permitting. Just remember to clean up afterwards so everyone can enjoy the space. All in all, we’d happily recommend Hase-Ya to anyone interested in authentic Japanese sushi and sashimi. It’s a simple place that respects tradition, rewards curiosity, and shows us that excellence often hides in the most modest settings.

Beautiful, fresh sushi - this level of quality is rare outside Japan, in my experience. I ordered the Nigiri 11, and it was really top notch The shop is welcoming and nicely decorated, with a small area for waiting, and the staff was very friendly. I thoroughly recommend Hase-Ya! Update 22/02/25: I came back today and ordered the double Kaisen don. The fish was absolutely delicious, so fresh and flavourful. A real delight! This is the best Japanese food I’ve had outside of Japan. Thank you, Hase-Ya ^_^

My partner and I journeyed across the capital to sample what some have described as “the finest Japanese sushi in London.” Somewhat expecting disappointment given the hype, we instead left with the gratifying sense that we had uncovered a genuine hidden gem - one that more than justified its exalted reputation. During our visit, we indulged in a selection comprising the nigiri set, the zeitaku don, and a negitoro temaki hand roll on the side. Whilst the fish was of commendable quality, it was the rice that left the most indelible impression on us both. Each grain was perfectly al dente in texture yet glutinous as a collective. Imbued with an exquisite balance of vinegar, gentle sweetness, and a deep, savoury umami, it served as a quiet reminder that great sushi is as much about the fish as it is dependent on the rice. For visitors from afar, it is worth noting that Hase-Ya operates as a takeaway rather than a dine-in establishment. Fortunately, Lammas Park lies only a short 5-minute walk away and - weather permitting - offers a verdant setting for an impromptu picnic. (Do, of course, remember to tidy up afterwards so others may enjoy it as much as you did!) In conclusion, we would readily recommend Hase-Ya to anyone with even the faintest inclination towards the refined pleasures of Japanese sushi and sashimi. It is a place that honours tradition, rewards curiosity and - in its quiet, unassuming way - reminds us all that excellence often hides in the most modest of settings.

the sashimi at hase-ya never disappoints - they are always my go-to if I have a crave for fresh and authentic quality japanese food. I would recommend Jyu sushi set, Kaisen don, Hon maguro futomaki. It’s so far the best sushi place in west london!
